January Planning

Next show: last week of Jan we're gonna pull together some sorta fundraising, guitar banging, clod hopping party and you'all are invited! So keep your ears to the ground... both of em.

Nest step: mid Jan we're gonna start auditioning bassists! We need a multi-instrumentalist, got-his/her/its-own-rig kinda bass playa that can groove to our tunes! If you think you got the rocks (bullocks or boobies) then contact the suckaz on the contact page and hope the spot hasn't been filled cause that's all we can really guarantee without a court mandated approval. Remember, we play non-paying gigs in the greater Montreal area including full kit sets and acoustic shows depending on the venue. We prefer to play fundraisers and shows that help support causes, social enterprises, and community building. We are ready, willing and able and you need to be too! This offer expires the moment you get your shit together.

Functionality issues?

This goes out to the programmers over at you-know-where who marvelously failed to provide proper embed scripts on their site. If you're having problems with the buttons below - clicking furiously to no avail - be comforted in the knowledge that these code-jockeys won't remain employed forever. Certainly not if this kind of service continues...

To those who really want to hear a second, heart-pounding rhyme-gasm from the boys in brown, close the pesky pop-up window and click anew!

Gig on the 30th of October @ Le Cagibi in Le Plateau

After a swift hiatus, Mister Jackson's Van is rolling into town again with brass banging beats and burly brown beards! With the return of Chris from Uganda we've been hard at work maintaining the level of professionalism that our fans have come to respect us for... none whatsoever. But that's okay! This level of dedication has landed us a show (by falling ass backwards into it) opening for The Latitudes this Sunday at Montreal's own tantalizing veg-resto of choice, Le Cagibi. We're set to hit the stage at 9 in the PM.

Here are the coordinates:

Le Cagibi, 5490 St. Laurent

(corner of St. Viateur)

Will play for beers

Howdy esteemed small business entrepreneurs,

We here at Mister Jackson's Van are dedicated musicians who want nothing more than to astound the audience by delighting their auditory senses. With this in mind, we are currently looking to fill a spot - any spot actually - in your Friday night last-minute ditch effort office parties at the local watering hole shindig. We play rock, we play blues, we play for pretty much just booze. So if you are in want of a psychedelic mystery van crammed to the gills with guitar banging musicians - working for peanuts and phone numbers - crashing your next office party, please do not hesitate to call the number on your screen. That number is 514-835-0421. Our people are standing by.

* This Offer applies to Montreal residents only. Offer expires Thursday, June 30th, 2011. All conditions may or may not apply. Give us beer.

Under Post-Construction

Keep in mind fellow pirates,

This blog has already received a new coat of paint since it's departure from the crumbling heights of Wordpress to the brighter shores of Blogspot, but now we're going to continue this magnificent process by double plating the exterior hull with Facebook apps. This will allow our crew a steadier footing for ship to ship boarding. Our site, 'old glory' we call her, may experience more changes in the days to come but it's faithful crew is confident that these changes are for the better, and will lead us to new and exciting horizons.

Clear seas ahead mateys!

New recordings coming soon!

Howdy Space Cadets!

Last night MJV recorded off the floor five songs that'll blow your leg warmers right off. We've done the preliminary recordings of the instruments, and we punched in the vocals. Tonight we're headed back to 1180 to FINISH the JOB. Meaning, we're going to punch in the few lead parts that were omitted yesterday due to time constraints and also we're going to be punching in the backup vocals. Maybe, with time permitting, we'll be able to start mastering the stuff even. But I'm not holding my breath or anything. What I can say with certainty however is that the days of the Myspace tracks - those slimy, nasty, and vile recordings from the distant past - are numbered! You hear that shitty tracks?? Finito, Finitos you get me? Pack your bags and kiss your mother`s arse goodbye! And don`t let the door knob bean you in the face on the way out ... Mister Jackson`s Van PRE-PRE MASTERED is coming to stay and it`s going to need your old bedroom. So get a job and cut that hair you hippy bastard!

Something to consider

Good evening,

I think tonight's drunkenness may have led to some rather sobering realizations... MJV has learned that a full time bass guitar might go a long way to filling out the sound; Go full on Led Zep, or keep it old school like the Doors would. Keep your ear to the blog for further details. Over.

Gigs in May

Okay so we have two very possible shows lined up for late May. One is at everyone's favorite watering hole Mad Hatters where the drinks are cheap and the stairs are winding. Next we're hoping to play for a Crane Records CD release party (not ours ... yet), another sweet local outfit which may prove to be a bountiful seedbed of contacts and resources. You can check them out here http://cranerecords.ca/ just in case you were wondering. We were at some point so go ahead and take a peek (it won't hurt - promise). Hopefully we'll hash out a few dates in the next couple of weeks and the next post will be an invitation. I'm stoked already!

Recording in May

MJV will be recording a short Demo/EP some time next week. This is cool for us as it will be the first decent recordings we have with the entire band. We'll update, as well as update the music we have on this site. Should be interesting.

April showers means MJV flowers

Basically tonnes of shit going on in MJV land. With Ryan joining the lineup, MJV is set to start working on more gigs, recording a demo (for myspace placement), and writing new songs, all with the 'come what may' attitude you've come to expect from the band. Look for more news coming this month, including another benefit show in late April.

It's Official

After careful deliberation, then-current members of MJV (that is to say Chris, Josh and Mark) concluded that Ryan has completed the initial trial run for the coveted position of Drummer for MJV. This being said, Ryan was inducted into the band last night around midnight with the ceremonial taking of spirits and the ritualized partaking of cannabis. While at first we were not sure, we came to the decision that indeed Mister Jackson's Van had enough room in the back for a fourth member. As a result, the charter has been appropriately modified and all existing entries in the extensive band history have been updated. Welcome to the MJV, Ryan. Thanks for carefully dotting the Is and crossing the Ts on your application you mad-dog sonuvabitch. Rock On!!
